What currency is used in the Philippines?
The primary currency in the Philippines is the Philippine peso. Pesos are the much preferred currency, but you may occasionally be able to pay for some items in hotels in foreign currencies such as US or Aussie dollars. Be aware that hotel exchange rates are often poor. You will need pesos in all rural areas and when dealing with local shop owners. Many forums on the Philippines suggest converting money once you get there to get a better exchange rate than you will from vendors in your home country.
