Philippines Money Transfers – FAQs

How fast can OFX transfer money to your Philippine bank account?

Generally speaking, you can expect your funds to arrive  in 3-5 days: 2 days for your Canadian bank to Bill Pay or wire us the money and 1-3 days for OFX to convert your Canadian Dollars into Philippine Pesos and transfer to your Philippine bank account (via SWIFT) for final settlement.

Is there any limit on how much money you can send to the Philippines?

Absolutely not. In fact the more money you send, the better the exchange rate we can give you.

How much does OFX charge to send money to Philippine bank accounts?

The most we charge is just $15 for transferring Canadian Dollars to the Philippines. If you send more than $10,000 to the Philippines, your transfer is fee free. Our customers’ real savings come from our highly competitive exchange rates.  Compare our great CAD/PHP exchange rates to your bank or Paypal and see how much cheaper it is.

Can you send money from your Philippine bank account to Canada?

Unfortunately OFX can only send money one way, from Canada to the Philippines, not the reverse.

What currency is used in the Philippines?

The primary currency in the Philippines is the Philippine peso. Pesos are the much preferred currency, but you may occasionally be able to pay for some items in hotels in foreign currencies such as US or Aussie dollars. Be aware that hotel exchange rates are often poor. You will need pesos in all rural areas and when dealing with local shop owners. Many forums on the Philippines suggest converting money once you get there to get a better exchange rate than you will from vendors in your home country.
