OFX is a global company with offices around the world. This means we receive and make transfers 24 hours a day. Depending on the currency you are transferring, transfer times may differ.

Please note: If you're sending money over the weekend or before a public holiday, it may be processed the next business day. Avoiding transferring at these times can help reduce delays. For more information please visit our Terms and Conditions page or contact an OFXpert.

The “Maturity Date” or “Delivery Date” is the date on which the currency exchange is to be made by OFX and by which you must provide cleared funds to cover the conversion and any applicable fees. These should be in the same currency as your Sale Currency and either available in your OFX account or paid into the bank account we specify.

Clearance times depend on the currency, the location of your recipient’s account and the banks you use. Rest assured that you’ll be notified via a Funds Paid email when OFX has transferred your funds.

Generally, no time at all. Since we have a global network of bank accounts, making a transfer with us is not only secure, but also very fast.

As soon as you send us your funds, we’ll transfer them to your recipient. The time it takes for us to transfer the funds to your recipient depends on the country, but in most cases it takes 1-2 business days.

OFX money transfers are a fast, secure way to send money both domestically and internationally. Payments of major currencies are usually made within the same or the next business day from receipt of funds. Less common currencies may take slightly longer, up to 1-3 business days. A bank to bank transfer is a reliable and safe way to send money, but how long does it take for a bank to bank transfer to go through? The length of time required to transfer your money will depend upon factors that include:

 

  • Bank holidays

  • Weekends

  • The currencies that are involved in the transaction

  • The payment method that you use

  • Whether it’s a domestic or international transfer

  • The company you choose to make your money transfer

 

Typically, an international bank to bank transfer could take anywhere from 2-5 business days with most banks.

How long does a bank to bank transfer take with OFX?

Our global network of banks allows us to transfer money overseas securely and quickly, so if you’re sending from Australia to the U.S., we can often offer same day delivery.* Most other major currency transfers may arrive within 1-2 days (from the time OFX receives your funds).

 

While banks require that you submit your money transfer orders during their business hours, OFX operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

 

Here’s how it works:

 

  1. You register with us and use our online form to submit your recipient’s details.

  2. Once we receive the funds from your bank (this usually takes half a business day), we’ll transfer the funds to your recipient using our local bank account in your recipient’s home country, which helps to expedite your transfer. (This system also means your recipient is less likely to have to pay a fee to receive a foreign transfer.)

  3. Depending upon your recipient’s country, it generally takes 1-4 business days to complete the entire process of receiving your funds and sending them to your recipient. 

Stay on top of your bank to bank transfer from start to finish

We know how important it is to keep track of where your money is and when it arrives at its destination. That’s why you can log in to track the status of your transfer or use our mobile app to keep an eye on your money, and if you have any questions, we’re just a phone call away.

 

On top of that, we’ll send you emails or SMS throughout the transfer process to let you know when we’ve received your funds and when your funds have been sent to your recipient’s account.

Checking your transfer history with OFX is quick and simple. Simply log into your OFX account and navigate to transfers. Here you will be able to see your past and current transfers with OFX.

Tracking a transfer is easy with OFX. You can view your transfer progress in your OFX account via the progress bar underneath your open transfers. You will also receive transfer notifications along the way. These notifications will include a deal confirmation email, a transfer receipt email, a funds received email, and a funds paid email.
