What currency is used in Bali, Indonesia?
The primary currency in Indonesia is the Indonesian rupiah. Rupiah is the much preferred currency, but you may occasionally be able to pay for some items in hotels in foreign currencies such as US or Aussie dollars. Be aware that hotel exchange rates are often poor. You will need rupiah in all rural areas and when dealing with local shop owners. Many forums on Bali suggest converting money once you get to Bali to get a better exchange rate than you will from vendors in your home country.
