Beyond Brexit: Powering Your Global Potential
At OFX (previously OzForex), we deliver a service that makes managing your finances as a global citizen – or a global business – just a little bit easier.
But there’s a lot more that goes into making a success of international operations than managing your forex exposure smartly. That’s why we’ve organised this event – to help our friends in the business world navigate the minefield of expanding into new markets, especially with the Brexit question looming large over the international geopolitical and economic landscape.
Join us as we talk all things international expansion with David McCredie, CEO of the Australian British Chamber of Commerce, and Cynthia Dearin, Founder of Dearin & Associates and the International Business Accelerator.
Tuesday 22 August
OFX Head Office - L19, 60 Margaret St, Sydney
6pm: Arrival, drinks and light bites
6.30pm: David McCredie, Australian British Chamber of Commerce, and Cynthia Dearin, Founder of Dearin & Associates and the International Business Accelerator, share their views on international expansion opportunities ‘beyond Brexit’
7.30-8pm: Wrap up and networking
CEO, Australian British Chamber of Commerce
David has led the Australian British Chamber of Commerce since 2010 and leads their broad program of events and Sponsor and Member services, providing connectivity within the public and private sectors across Australia. During his tenure, the Chamber has expanded operations across five states and to the UK.
David will kick off the evening’s discussion with some insight into post-Brexit opportunities for market-ready Australian businesses. Australia is at the front of the queue for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with a post-Brexit UK and is keen to seal an ambitious and comprehensive arrangement. Though UK hasn’t been the obvious trading partner for Australian businesses, especially given the strong growth and proximity to our Asian neighbours, the UK is still a significant opportunity and in the top four markets of interest according to the Australian International Business survey in 2016.
Founder, Dearin & Associates and the International Business Accelerator
Cynthia Dearin is an international business strategist, advisor, keynote speaker and author. She is the Founder of Dearin & Associates and the International Business Accelerator, a consultancy that helps clients to access opportunities and capital in fast-growing international markets. Before founding Dearin & Associates, Cynthia worked extensively internationally, as an Australian diplomat and a management consultant. She is also an Australian-qualified lawyer, and spent three years as the CEO of the Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
In her short keynote, Cynthia will address the key drivers pushing small companies around the globe to internationalise. Sharing insights from Dearin’s Framework for International Success, she will outline three questions that small businesses must be able to answer before kicking off an international expansion and next steps that they can take to make it a reality.
This is a free event, but you (and anyone you bring along!) must be registered to attend and spaces are limited so don’t miss out.
